Acne Products: Which Are Right For You?

by Flemin on July 20, 2010

When it comes to acne, nothing can be quite as embarrassing as having a pimple on your face, and when you suffer from continual acne and your face is always breaking out, it can really lower your self esteem.  Then, you get recommendations from other people such as your friends and celebrities on TV as to which products work the best, but it can often times be confusing.  Hopefully I can give you can insight as to how to determine which acne products are right for you and your skin.

The problem with recommendations from your friends and other people is that each person has a different skin type, so what may work for them will not necessarily work for you.  you need to determine what type of skin you have.  Do you have really sensitive skin or do you have rough skin or somewhere in between?  Do you have oily skin or do you have really dry skin or somewhere in between?  There are different acne products available that work better for certain types of skin than others, so finding the right kind for your skin type is the first step.

The second step is to try out a lot of different products.  You’ll probably want to try out one product at a time, for three week intervals to see if a product is working as intended or not.  Because acne can take a little while to clear up, it is best to give it enough time so that you can truly see if a certain product is effective or not.  While trying out different products is expensive, for most people it is worth it to finally find something that will get rid of their acne.

Remember that not all skin types are the same and not all acne products are the same, so while your friends have good intentions when they recommend what works for them, just know that you’ll need to do your own testing to see what works best for you.
