Nintendo Drops The Price For Wii Console Again

by Flemin on June 14, 2010

Nintendo’s popular Wii console has been heavily discounted by several major companies, including Amazon, so that now the Wii console best price is under $150. This is the original white Wii console, and includes Wii Sports, a controller and nunchuk. This is the lowest price for this product yet. Nintendo started out by pricing the Wii console at $250, a high price for many buyers, but in 2009 they dropped the price to $199 to bring in more holiday buyers who may have been on the fence. This is the third price discount on Wii that has come on the market.

The price is dropping because there is now another product on the market, the black Wii console, and Nintendo has offered a new Wii bundle best deal for a lower price too. These newer bundle deals include either a black or white console, a controller and nunchuk, Wii sports, the newer Wii Sports Resort, but also Wii MotionPlus. MotionPlus is a controller add on that gives a controller more smooth action during play. It helps improve a player’s movement when the controller is swung or pointed. This new bundle is also a lower price as well at the $199 sticker price, so that either the basic Wii console or the newer Wii bundle are more affordable as summer starts up and kids get out of school. The changes in pricing means that many families will make this purchase to have at home for the kids over summer break, or might consider buying an extra console if they have a vacation home, RV or as gifts for relatives.

A lower price also may bring in other buyers formerly sitting on the fence, such as seniors, single women (who can get the Wii Fit) and families with young children. With additional features like the Wii Fit, Netflix on the Wii, and new titles coming out every day, there are still many people who would have a great time by adding the Nintendo Wii console to their entertainment center.
