When Will the Playstation 4 Be Released?

by Felix on December 19, 2009

Right now, the top gaming consoles are the Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii and the Playstation 3.  Each company is working hard to continue promoting their current generation of consoles, but they are also probably working just as hard planning, brainstorming, and developing their next generation consoles.   As each new console comes out, they have to push the limits further and further as far as video gaming goes.   What kinds of neat and cool and brand new features will the Playstation 4 have?  While we don’t know for sure, there are definitely some good guesses out there, but until the Playstation 4 release date, we can only dream and make guesses.

3-Dimensional video gaming will be a reality here soon enough.  Television companies are already coming out with TVs that can display 3-dimensional content.  There’s already 3D movies that exist, but as 3DTVs become more popular, there will be TV show in 3D as well as video games in 3D.  I wouldn’t doubt if the Playstation 4 featured a 3D gaming option.

Another popular thing is video downloads.  While the Playstation 3 already has this option, I think that it will become the main backbone of the next generation video gaming consoles.  Broadband servers and people’s home internet will become faster and faster for cheaper, and so people will be able to download beautiful quality videos in a fraction of the time it currently takes.  This will allow their video game consolke to truly become a home entertainment system, which is the goal of the video gaming companies today.

Will there be a new DVD technology that blows away Blu-Ray?  Will Sony be stubborn and hold onto Blu-Ray if that happens, or will they embrace the new technology to be able to compete with other video game consoles and home entertainment systems?

Until we are allowed to pre order PS4, we won’t really know, but it is pretty fun to imagine what it will be like.
