How To Defend Against Acne

by Flemin on June 23, 2010

Confidence, self-esteem, pride, friendliness, and a positive attitude are all things having acne can destroy. The physical scars of acne can be measured but what about the emotional scars? How do we know how much damage having unhealthy skin is on a psychological level? The short answer is we don’t really know the extent of the damage but those that have suffered from severe cases of acne know that it did hurt.

Our skin isn’t the only thing under attack when a pimple pops up. Our mental health is also at stake. We will discuss some very simple ways how to get rid of pimples before they even has a chance to step foot on our bodies. Prevention is the best defense and daily, consistent, care of our skin is the best prevention.

You may have heard it a million times and you’re going to hear it again. The biggest step in any prevention method against acne is to properly and consistently clean the skin. It doesn’t help to clean your face once a week and it doesn’t help to clean your face with an abrasive scrub either.

A soft gentle cleanser will suffice to clean the skin. Change the body and hair soap to accommodate your pimple fighting efforts and incorporate products that say they are non acnegenic. This means that they won’t clog the skin’s pores.

Bathing after a workout or doing an outside activity such as walking or any activity that makes you sweat is a great idea. Keeping the pores clear is the main mission and sweat can clog those pores.

Another helpful tip is to wear clothes that don’t stick to your body. I know this may be difficult in the summer time because of the heat. Clothes that are loose are less likely to cause body acne on the chest or back.

Keeping the acne away will not only help keep your skin looking its best but it can also help keep your mental health as well. These steps are simple yet they are vitally important in preventing breakouts.
