Ways To Make Your Life Better

by Flemin on March 18, 2010

Diets can become a bad habit and severe dieting can be very harmful to health. Besides they are worthless when it comes to long term weight loss.

Generally people use temporary diets because they want to lose weight fast. X pounds so they will be able to go on a 3 week vacation, or to a high school reunion, moments when they want to look good.

At first you lose a few pounds, usually through severe diets, by starvation and by depriving yourself of foods you need and you like to eat. Then when you can be satisfied with the results or the lack of preferred foods or starvation starts to kick in you return to the old habits and end up putting more weight than before.

After a few months … maybe when you start to be dissatisfied with your body again, or a new event comes up and you must look good once more. The severe diet restarts. It is an endless cycle. It is called the boomerang effect and it is extremely harmful for the body that it affects your metabolism on the long run and you end up putting on weight easier and faster each time.

Conclusion: Diets which are generally severe … do not work.

A new way of thinking

If you want to lose weight, forget about the word diet, which sounds too temporary and is often associated with severe eating plans.

Adopt a new idea “new eating habits”, a permanent decision to give up some foods and to replace them with other foods that keep you healthy. Of course from time to time you can spoil yourself with your favorite foods. 80% of the time you are eating healthy and you are using the motorized treadmill from time to time and the occasional ice cream cake is not going to do you any harm.
