Who Makes The Best Rice Cookers?

by Flemin on July 28, 2010

For anyone wanting to buy the best rice cooker it is important to ask a range of important questions. How much can I afford to spend? What brand would I like to get? How often will I make rice? Do I have any special requirements? How many people am I going to cook for?

All of these questions above will have a bearing on which rice cooking appliance is best for you. Of course we all know that the more we spend on a machine like this, the better we can expect it to cook rice. But how important is this to us? If you are going to cook rice every day then it makes sense to buy a Zojirushi rice cooker as these are top of the range machines. They make great tasting rice and have a whole host of functions regarding what sort of rice they can make. Some of their cookers can be used to make GABA brown rice, others can cook risotto and there are one or two that can even be used to make cakes!

There are quite a few different companies that make these kitchen electronic devices. Some of them are Tiger, Zojirushi, Sanyo, Toshiba, Aroma and Oyster. You may have heard of some of these firms before. Indeed some of them are very famous Japanese electronics producers. The interesting thing is that it is two of the lesser well known firms, Zojirushi and Tiger, who actually have the highest reputation in Japan.

Typically rice cookers come in three sizes, small, medium and large. They can cook rice for up to five, ten and eighteen people respectively. Therefore it is important that you buy a rice cooker that is appropriate to your needs. You neither want a machine that is too large or too small for you.
