Iron Chandelier – A Touch Of The Past

It is becoming popular today to decorate ones home using a chandelier. In times past, these beautiful lighting fixtures were reserved for use in palaces or mansion. However in today’s world, many have been designed to fit perfectly in your home adding beauty and sophistication. There are many types of chandeliers available and an iron chandelier is one of the types that have great function and design for modern homes. Basically an iron chandelier is one that is made with wrought iron. This material can easily be molded to form many different beautiful and unique designs while at the same time being durable.

Today the most common iron chandeliers are designed with metal arms that extend out from the chandelier’s central point. In some cases, each of these arms will have either a single or double bend in the arm, while there are others which have sophisticated curls and swirls. The bulbs tend to be in the shape of candles and are frequently located on the extended portion of each arm. Based on the design and shape of the chandelier the bulbs may be covered with a lamp shade or left uncovered.

Iron chandeliers are also designed as a big frame with a pendant and the lights structured in a row or with the bulbs hanging within the frame. These types of chandeliers are mostly located over the dining table in a house which has a country style décor. There is also another design in which the metal is used to form rings, with each ring being connected by a chain. The lantern design has some resemblance to a traditional lantern that uses candles. In this design the bulbs are shaped as candles and are located within the boxed shape. In addition the top and sides of this design are available with decorated accents and metal trims.

Traditionally iron chandeliers are located in the dining room as the main light source; however they are just as perfect for your hallway, bedroom and living room. Additionally, the dark rustic look of the iron will enhance the beauty of just about any background and especially those with bricks, plaster, wood and stone. There are many online stores with these chandeliers for an affordable price. You could even search for chandeliers made with iron and having glass accent in order to get a more classy look to the rustic appearance.
