I was looking through a furniture catalog the other day and came across a selection of canopy beds. We’ve just moved into a new home which is a lot more spacious than anything we’ve had before. We’ve always been fans of four poster beds but you really do need plenty of space to house one and now that we’ve finally got that space I think now would be a good time to buy one. If you would like to read more about these beds then have a look at this canopy bed guide.
Looking at the bed canopies on offer I suddenly had a real strong memory of when I was a kid and playing with my best friend Amy, who lived next door. I hasten to add that we were both only six years old and very innocent so there’s nothing untoward in this story. I simply remember us both hiding out under the bed canopies of the grand four poster beds in her mothers house. It seems to me that being a kid and making your own fun was a lot simpler back then. You didn’t necessarily need all the latest toys and video games. My kids seem to get bored within a very short space of time if they don’t have some new dvd to watch on television. I’m sure it can’t be good for their imagination to have all this stuff handed to them on a plate.
We used to hide and pretend we were on the other side of the world in some foreign land getting up to all sorts of adventures. And we didn’t just play at knights and princesses we had a whole bunch of different characters at our finger tips. Brave explorers of undiscovered continents, spacemen (and woman) cruising different galaxies and of course cowboys and Indians. We had weeks and weeks of summer holidays to fantasize in.
Maybe I should think about buying a canopy bed so my children have something to spark their imaginations too!
