This Method Improves The Safety Of Your Garage

This could be your story, don’t let it happen to you.  It is raining outside and you drive your car into the garage. Then, you step out and your foot slides because of the slippery floor. Luckily, you take control of yourself and catch your weight before you hit the floor or any object in the garage, but there are people who are not that lucky. The garage is one of the most dangerous areas in the home because of the high incidence of slips and falls. The dripping rain water or melted snow is often the source of a slick on its surface. To make a garage floor safer, it is recommended to apply a non-slip garage floor coating.

Actually, there are three major products available on the market that you can use as floor treatments to make it safer. The first product is the garage floor paint that contains a non-slip material. It is very easy to put on because all you have to do is wash and clean the floor and then let it dry.  Next, you roll out the paint with a standard roller brush. The non-slip gritty ingredient is then evenly spread over the entire surface. This method is recommended if your garage is only used for parking your car because the paint easily wears off.

Another product on the market is the epoxy floor coating. It is also applied the same as the garage floor paint. Aside from giving cover to the concrete floor, it also serves as a garage floor sealant because it gives the surface protection from damage by sealing the pores in the concrete. The resin and hardener should be mixed well together before applying the coat. After painting on the coating, the non-slip material is then applied. It requires three days for the epoxy to totally cure and be driven on but you only need 18 hours in order to walk on it.

The third available product in the market is floor mats. These mats can be small and only placed on walking paths or you can install the mats in a way that covers the entire floor area. These give protection to the surface and offer great, reliable traction.

You can use any of these products. What matters most is that you are aware of the dangers in your garage and you are doing something to prevent them.
