One of the problems that a lot of people have in getting Google Adsense to work out on their site is actually getting a good response from Google. In other words, does the Google web-bot see your little page as being first: relevant to the subject, and second: how recent and up to date is the information?
Now Google, whilst clever, is only just starting to understand the idea of semantic comprehension. So if your keyword is going to rank well you are going to need to give the search engine a little bit of a hand to know what you want it to do for you.
The first thing you can do is to make sure that your whole site hits just one theme. Now it can still be quite broad. So let’s say that you start your website wanting to provide a service by which people can find 18 inch tyres in the local area. As people come by, you notice that they are also finding your site for red sports cars – and yes you do get random hits like that! Ok, so if you had based your site around 18 inch tyres, then you would be stuffed. But how about you had based it around something like ‘mean machines’. Suddenly 18 inch tyres are as relevant in that niche – cars are a level up – as are red sports cars.
Which brings me to my second point. With a broader site you are going to be able to find a lot more to write about. There is only so much that you can write about 18 inch wheels. And that won’t help your long tail adsense earning potential . However, there is a whole load you can write about different types of sports cars, including tyres, exhausts, engines, paint jobs…. And you need to write every day, if you can. Why? Because the more regularly you update your site, again Google sees it as interesting and fresh content. Result: Google will promote your posts higher up the results table.
