Birth Charts And The Zodiac

If you are interested in getting your birth chart done, there are a few tips to keep in mind. First, it helps to provide your astrologer with very precise details about the time and the place of your birth. If you do this, your chart will provide a detailed and thorough exploration of the energy patterns that define your life. They can help explain decision we have made and guide us in making better decision in the future.

But to really reap all the benefits of these unique psychic readings, we need to understand what the twelve houses of the zodiac are. They will for the basis of your birth chart.

In astrology, the term house refers to one of a dozen sectors or partitions in the sky. Think of the old-fashioned wagon wheel, for example. Picture it with twelve spokes radiating out from the hub, breaking the wheel into twelve equal portions.

The spaces between each spoke are the houses – they are also called the signs. Houses of the zodiac and astrological signs are not always identical in size but when they differ it is usually only to a small degree. The spokes – we are still using the wagon wheel analogy – are the cusps, the lines between the signs or houses.

At all times of the day and night, the moon and the sun, as well as each one of the planets, are circling through the sky and passing through both a sign and a house. Imagine that at the moment you are born, we could freeze the heavens – take a snapshot of the location of all those heavenly bodies. This is, in essence, your birth chart.

When your astrologer looks at the planet – Neptune, say, or maybe Venus – she is divining what energies that you most need to express or have understood in your life. The sign – what most of us think of when we think of astrology – helps us to understand how that energy will show up in a person’s life. In a sense, it is their psychology, and sheds light on their habits and their personal style.

Finally, the house works literally like geography. It tells the reader of the chart where in one’s life these energies indicated by the moon and sun and the planets – are likely to appear in one’s day to day life. It can also suggest the intensity with which those energies will show up.

Ideally, a careful reading of the birth chart helps to show an individual who they truly are and what they are here on earth to do. They will not answer every question, but they can be an important resource in helping answer many of them.

Understanding the twelve houses of the Zodiac is an important step to appreciating the impact of our personal birth charts.
