However, with a little self-education in the different types of bras available, one can to some extent alleviate the burden which comes from shopping for a bra. Therefore some of the main bra types will be highlighted in this article.
Underwired bra. This is simply a bra with an underwire in the cups. It provides very good support, but for some women, feels very uncomfortable.
Soft cup bra. This is a bra without the underwire. It tends to be very comfortable, as compared with the underwired bra, but care needs to be taken to ensure that sufficient support is still provided.
The underwired and the soft cup bras are general kinds of bras, as the more specific types can usually fall under each category.
Minimizer bra. This is a bra made for the big busted women. It is supposed to make the cup size appear smaller. It is useful to know that there are brands which specialise in catering to the well endowed women, such as Lunaire bras. Naturally these brands would have minimizers to choose from, but also offer a variety of types.
Push up bra. This is the opposite of the minimizer. It is meant to help those women who lack substance in the chest area, appear to have more.
Sports bra. As the name would indicate, this is for women who are involved in more than casual physical exercise. They are built for comfort and support so as to prevent bouncing while working out.
We have highlighted five bra types here. There truly are many more. But these tend to be among the most common. Once you have resolved what purpose you want your bra for, and what type of body you have, then you will be in a good position to decide on a bra.
