Located in Southern Utah is Arches National Park with its beautiful red rock landscape it stands out amongst other national parks. Arches NP is home to one of the most famous natural Arches, Delicate Arch which you might recognize if you have ever seen a Utah license plate. The area is rich with activities making it a great place for outdoor lovers to visit.
More than 200 sandstone arches can be found here and numerous hiking trails lead you to different arches. There are trails for all levels of hikers from easy to difficult. The Fiery Furnace is the parks most difficult hike and requires special permits and being accompanied by a park ranger. If there aren’t enough trails within Arches itself, which there are, check out Canyonlands which is close by. It too has plenty of hiking areas and beautiful landscapes.
Your visit to Arches won’t be complete without visiting Delicate Arch. It is not an easy hike and it leaves you exposed to the desert sun’s strong rays. Temperatures are well above 100 in the summer so make sure you bring plenty of water. It is a 3 mile trail and will take you 2- 3 hours to complete.
For those who enjoy tent camping there are plenty of places to set up camp nearby or near the Colorado River where you can also enjoy river rafting while on your visit. There are many outfitters in the area who offer guided river rafting tours and there are also calmer waters if you don’t want to brave the currents.
Mountain bikers also won’t be disappointed with their amazing bike trails or bring your jeep and go off roading. There are many off roading trails for jeeps and atv’s. The city of Moab nearby has plenty of places you can rent these recreational vehicles if you don’t have your own.
